Balochistan’s gas revenue to jump to Rs 11. 832 b next year

QUETTA: Sindh Province will be the biggest beneficiary following rationalization of the wellhead prices of natural gas in talks outside the National Finance Commission (NFC) parameters earlier last year. However, both Sindh and Balochistan will get more revenue during the next fiscal year, according to the budget documents.

Balochistan Province will be the second beneficiary for upward revision of wellhead prices of natural gas and resolving the dispute over the Gas Development Surcharge between Sindh and Balochistan.

The lowest recipient of Gas Development Surcharge will be Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa receiving slightly over Rs one million each.

Sindh Government will be getting Rs 18.35 from Gas Development Surcharge and Rs 6.154 billion for Balochistan. There is a big difference on GDS merely because Balochistan has the depleting gas reserves while the share of Sindh is increase to the national economy.

Balochistan will get Rs 4.175 billion as royalty and Sindh will get Rs 20.08 billion.

In case of Federal Excise on Natural Gas, Balochistan will Rs 1.503, Sindh over 5.025 billion, Punjab Rs 407 million and KP 208 million.

Overall, Sindh will be getting Rs 50 billion from natural gas revenue and Balochistan around Rs 11.832 billion improving the financial position of both the provinces.
